Johannesburg 41ers Building a School for Orphans
Johannesburg 41ers have adopted The Love of Christ (TLC) Orphanage in the south of the city as an outreach project since mid-2016. TLC was established in 1993 by the Jarvis family who have taken on over 800 abandoned children. (The family themselves have adopted 17 children.) They provide a home for these children from newly born until they are able to find a permanent home.
JHB 41ers (and especially Richard Wortley, Trevor Ketler and Tony Stock) have subsequently donated in excess of 20 truck-loads of clothes, books, furniture, and electric appliances, including fridges, and washing machines worth in excess of R100 000.
Report on Belgian AGM 2017, Mechelen, Belgium
Being a European flight it is overnight but even so it was a midday arrival. So, arriving at Brussels airport at around 2pm I was rather thirsty and being in the ‘beer’ capital of the world, I had no choice but to enjoy a beer with my good friends Johnny Webber, his beautiful wife (who just arrived from Austria) and of course our great friend that was there to pick us up, Didier. It was just under an hours’ drive to Mechelen, which was very scenic. On arrival, as usual, another beer and then a quick shower and get ready for the evening function.
