If you are an old tabler...

41ers LogoDear Fellow 41’ers and Friends,

Today I write to you under truly strange circumstances, a letter I never thought in my wildest imagination I would have to write. We never anticipated a Virus so terrible and destructive could exist, but clearly we have also not listened to the Scientists and individuals that have spoken out about the possible existence of something so terrifying over the Years. Covid-19 has not only made us sit back and take stock of what is important to us as human beings but has also shown us how insignificant and defenceless we really are.

Nature has given us a shot across the bow to say, back up and shut up, we are not as great and all powerful as we think we are. Many of us are facing hardship in our businesses and have suffered great financial loss due to the Lockdown of the economy since March of this year. We don’t know where this is going to end, we don’t know how this will end, but we need to stay strong and take care of ourselves and our families to make sure we all get through this is best we can.

It is with this in mind, after many phone calls and Zoom meetings, that the 41’er Association of South Africa Executive, in line with 41 International, has decided to call 2020 a “Blank Year”. This basically mean that ALL meetings, functions and other socials events that we had planned for the rest of the Year has been cancelled, or should I rather say postponed to 2021. The AGM and Induction of Nico McNamara as the 51st President of the Association, will carry over to September 2021. We will raise no new Capitation for this year, so the fees payable at February 2020, will carry over to cover 2021 as well. Could we please ask that you follow up with the Treasurer as there are still many invoices outstanding.

Raymond has been sending out updated stats, so please keep an eye out for his communication. All outgoing and incoming YAP tours for this year has also been cancelled, this creates a great opportunity for those wanting to make use of this benefit to send their children or grandchildren on an unforgettable holiday to Europe. Nico McNamara has all the details and you are more then welcome to contact him for information and costs pertaining to this trip.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We pray you all stay safe and until we meet again, keep those hinges of friendship unbroken.

Yours in Friendship,

Cornelis Burger
